It’s common to see black bears when staying in Mountain Shadows Rentals. We are so close to Roaring Fork and Downtown Gatlinburg that we have multiple that walk up and down our streets as part of their daily routine. You’ll see them mainly in the mornings and evenings right after the sun comes up and before the sun goes down. When you are about to check in, you will receive a “Bearwise” letter letting you know to keep your trash put away and in the proper receptacles as well as to lock your vehicles and keep food out of them. We love our bears as much as our guests do so we ask that you stay a safe distance away and enjoy their antics and beauty. There’s nothing like waking up and seeing a bear walk down the street or try to hide in your flower bed. Unlike brown bears or grizzlies, black bears love berries, nuts, and different foliage.
